Renewal

Monday, November 30th, 2009

I was getting some feedback from my friends that my portfolio site was “user-unfriendly”, so I went back to the basics. The site should be easier to navigate, but I still left my “Sketchbook Edition” available through the index and other page. So, hopefully everyone will be able to at least browse through my illustrations.

Promotion Cards and Bookmarks

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Lately, I’ve been constructing an online portfolio to get a illustration job in the Children’s Book Industry. I definitely see a high wall in front of me, and TONS of talented artists climbing over the high walls. So, the first thing that came up was to….draw, draw, draw, and draw. Yes, everyday. I think it’s the only way to see what kind of styles are “me” and what kind of styles I “love”. I’ve always loved the soft texture of watercolors, but I’m still figuring out whether graphite or pen will work with the style I am aiming for.

After experimenting for a while, I’ve reached with a style in graphite and watercolor for the Promotion Card and Bookmark. I left about 20 bookmarks at the library on Tuesday but only one was left today. So, I really hope this will entertain your eyes…and hopefully the art directors out there. I should be sending them out to certain publishers soon.

Illustration Portfolio

Friday, November 13th, 2009

I’ve been working on my Illustration Portfolio for about over a month, and been working on my promotion pieces. The process of putting together a strong portfolio is quite difficult than I thought. It’s been challenging everyday, but I am learning new things everyday. I will be sending out the promotional cards and bookmarks to publishers probably next week, and hoping or more like needing for illustration work in the future.

Please check out my illustration portfolio website:
